So far this semester, I've been working on the following things:
1. Donald Davidson's last book, Truth and Predication. In the first few chapters, he lays out a theory of truth, based heavily on Tarski's theory of truth. I've been writing short papers, generally arguing that Davidson is confused.
2. Denotic logic. In Mark Schroeder's seminar, we've been going through some paradoxes of deontic logic. Given a plausible deontic logic, with principles for translating English sentences into formalized logical sentences, and inferential connections between those formalized sentences, we can get some very counterintuitive results.
3. Probability. In Kenny Easwaran's and Jim Van Cleve's epistemology seminar, we've been going through some interpretations of probability.
4. Reviewing first-order logic, in preparation to learn some metalogical results.
5. Reading Anathem by Neal Stephenson. I recommend this book to anyone, especially philosophers and mathematicians.
Also, I have a new USC website.
Finally, my girlfriend and I have recently gotten engaged, so that's pretty exciting.
